NWPC LA Metro is your local caucus of the National Women's Political Caucus (established 1971).
Following the failure of the ERA, NWPC's founders - including Gloria Steinem, Bella Abzug, and Dorothy Chisholm - realized there would never be equality under the law until women were equally represented in legislative chambers, making the laws.
The early days of NWPC are beautifully dramatized in Dahvi Waller's "Mrs. America."
At NWPC LA Metro, we fight to elect pro-choice, pro-ERA women to all levels of government. We actively recruit women all across our region to run for office - and then we help prepare them to run, and work to elect them when they do.
